Bentley has unveiled its first Hybrid concept at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show. The new concept is based on the company's flagship saloon, the Mulsanne, that is accompanied by its other siblings – the Flying Spur V8, GT V8S and the fastest Bentley ever – the Continental GT Speed at the Beijing auto show in China. However, the British automaker has not revealed complete power specs of the new car but announced that the new concept can run upto 50 kilometers on electric power only.

During the Bentley press conference at the Show, Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, commented: “Adding performance and efficiency with no compromise to luxury – Plug-in hybrids are an important part of Bentley’s exciting future and we are proud to be pioneering these developments in the ultra luxury sector.”

As the company says, the new plug-in system has boosted the Mulsanne performance by 25 per cent while lowering emission levels by upto 70 per cent. Powered by a behemoth sized 6.75-litre V8 engine that cranks out 512 BHP and 1020 Nm of torque, the additional electric power will only add to the car’s performance. Bentley's first SUV, announced to be launched by 2017, will also be the company's first hybrid model in production. Interestingly, the British giant has also announced that 90 per cent of its total lineup will be aided with green power technologies by the end of this decade.
