BWM India have rolled out its first-ever hybrid vehicle in the country, the 7-Series ActiveHybrid at Rs 1.35 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India) that has arrived into the country as a Completely Built Unit (CBU.) The model will be offered in the long wheelbase version only.
Powering the BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid is a 3.0-litre twin scroll turbocharged engine that has been mated to an 8-Speed automatic gearbox. The power output of the electric motor is rated at 55PS, while that of the petrol engine is 315PS. The 0 to 100 kmph mark is reached in just 5.7 seconds in hybrid drive with an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph and in 6.2 seconds in pure electric mode. The company claimed fuel efficiency is 12.75 kmpl. BMW also claims that the car will be able to cruise for 13.85 km on the odo before needing a re-fuel.
In terms of features and creature comforts, the BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid comes loaded with all the trappings seen in the regular 7-Series. In addition, the 7-Series ActiveHybrid also features a real time status update meter, which shows the level of battery remaining and other technical details related to hybrid vehicles.
