After a long wait of nearly two years, Fiat India has finally introduced the all-new 2014 Fiat Linea Facelift in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The facelifted Linea was first unveiled in Turkey back in 2012 and was then shown for the Indian market at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2014. The refreshed model has received a host of new features and styling updates on the outside as well as inside.
On the outside, the Fiat Linea features a new front fascia with a new grille, air intakes and a resized Fiat logo. The side profile remains the same as before. At the rear, the new Linea gets a large chrome strip running across the width of the boot space. Each of the brake light assemblies too, get a chrome of garnish and so does the number plate, which has now been repositioned to the boot lid from the bumper.
On the inside, the 2014 Fiat Linea has got a new dashboard as well as a redesigned instrument cluster. The sedan now features more cubby-holes to store beverages and knick-knacks. Some of the standard features include automatic head lamps, rain sensing wipers, all four power windows, rear defogger, remote keyless entry with tail gate opening, rear AC vents and a music system. The top-spec petrol and diesel variants now also get 16-inch alloy wheels, leather trim for seats, gear knob and steering, cruise control and climate control.
The 2014 Fiat Linea will now be offered in a total of seven variants - three diesel engined variants and four petrol engined variants. The diesel variants are are being powered by the 1.3-litre Multijet engine, while the petrol variants run on 1.4-litre unit. However, the base variant, Linea Petrol Active gets the naturally aspirated 1.4-litre unit, while all the other petrol-powered variants get the 1.4-Litre turbocharged T-Jet. The natural aspirated 1.4-litre unit is rated at 89PS and 115Nm, while the turbocharged unit produces 112PS of max power and 207Nm of peak torque. The 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine on the other hand, is rated at 98PS and 209Nm.
Fiat India is now offering the new Linea across three trim levels - Active, Dynamic and Emotion. Exterior colour options include, Tuscan Wine, New Pearl White, Mangnesio Grey, Hip Hop Black, Sunbeam Gold and Minimal Grey.
The Fiat Linea has been on sale in India since 2009 and has seen many minor updates and special edition models. The new C-Segment sedan will compete with the likes of Honda City, Renault Scala, Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento in the Indian market.
