India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki Ltd is planning to not only introduce the SX4 sedan replacement in the Indian market this year, but the carmaker is also reportedly, planning to roll out a facelift model of its hugely popular Swift hatchback. This updated model is speculated to arrive in the market as soon as July 2014.
The current generation Swift that came out in 2011, has managed to accumulate an impressive numbers of sales across the years - without any need for a refresh. This yeah however, we the onslaught of newer models in the lucrative hatchback segment from brands like Hyundai and Volkswagen, the carmaker reckons it is the right time to come up with the Swift Facelift.
The refreshed Swift was unveiled globally in July last year and in order to make space for the upcoming model, it is understood that Maruti Suzuki has charted out quite a bit of discount offers on both the petrol and diesel variants of the current-generation Swift. The discount that the manufacturer is offering on the petrol powered Swift is up to Rs 10,000, while that on the diesel powered model is up to Rs 20,000.
In terms of changes that we are most likely to see on the Swift Facelift model includes, a revised front bumper with the L-shaped LEDs, a new front grille and high mounted LED brake lights. Powering the Swift Facelift will be the same set of engine options that serve the current model. The petrol variant will be powered by the same 1.2-litre K-Series unit and the diesel variant will come fitted with the 1.3-litre DDIS diesel engine. An Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) that was first seen on the Celerio hatchback could also be made available with the Swift Facelift.
