Tagged as the ‘world’s finest SUV’ Land Rover recently presented the all-new Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB) SUV at Auto Expo 2014. As Land Rover puts it, the Range Rover Long Wheelbase was primarily built because customers asked for it. China is where the demand for the LWB version of the premium SUV is high, but the company decided to bring the model in India too, at a price tag of Rs 2.08 crore (ex-showroom, India).
Visually, the Range Rover LWB is easily distinguishable by the noticeably longer rear door, which has substantially added to the rear passenger leg space. To be precise, the 186mm longer wheelbase of the Range Rover has managed to add an additional 140mm of leg room in the second row. Speaking of second row, the rear seats can now be had with either a bench or in individual executive seat configuration. Also, with the wheelbase stretch, the Range Rover’s massive signature panoramic roof also gets larger. Apart from the added leg room, the Range Rover LWB offers executive class seats that recline 17 degrees (8 degrees in the standard version), 10.2-inch screens at the rear and deployable tables.
Powering the Range Rover Long Wheelbase will be the same set of petrol and diesel engines, which currently serve the regular Range Rover. The petrol variant is a 5.0-litre V8 that produces 503PS of max power and 625Nm of peak torque, while the diesel power comes from a 4.4-litre V8 engine that is rated at 339PS and a monstrous 700Nm of torque. In the Indian market, the Range Rover LWB currently has no rivals.
