The 2014 Force India VJM07 Formula One car has been revealed. Sahara Force India is the first team to introduce its car in this season.
Though the design of the chassis is similar to that of previous year’s VJM06, but now there is a lower nose section with a narrower wing, and the exhaust section is completely new. The biggest difference, however, is the power unit, which now has been designed by german auto-major Mercedes-Benz consisting a turbocharged 1.6 litre V-6 mill and an energy recovery unit.
“It's been a massive job to accommodate all the changes to the power unit,” Force India technical director Andrew Green said during today's reveal. “It's the biggest change I've witnessed in the sport since I started in 1990.”
The livery is also revamped with the introduction of black alongside the traditional colors- saffron, white and green, which helps to build a fresh trackside image for the team. Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta are now replaced with Sergio Perez and Nico Hülkenberg as drivers for the team.
Owner of the Sahara Force India team
"The VJM07 looks stunning and the new livery reflects the way Sahara Force India is evolving, I've always believed our cars have been the most eye-catching, but adding black as a main colour gives us a fierce new look." It's been a busy winter for us on the technical and commercial front. When I founded the team my first ambition was to launch the first Indian team on the grid, but the next stage in our evolution is to develop a global brand. I think that ambition is reflected in the partners we are working with and our world class driver line-up. It certainly feels as though there is the potential for 2014 to be our strongest season yet. "
With several multi-year deals by the team, the logo of Mexican telecommunications brand Claro is now there on the vehicle as-well-as on drivers’ suits and team kit. While the rear wing end plate now features branding from Roshfrans, the lubricant oils specialists.
