Tata Motors has quietly slipped in the 2014 Tata Aria Facelift into the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 9.95 lakh for the base level, Pure LX 4X2 variant, going all the way to Rs 14.74 lakh for the top level trim, Pride 4X2 variant. (Both prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi.)
The Tata Aria Facelift gets a host of styling and feature updates on both the outside and on the inside. The full-size MPV gets new dual barrel headlights with projector beams, clear lens for the taillight clusters. refreshed side body decals and a black bezel for the headlamp cluster. Inside, the biggest update comes in the form of a premium Harman Kardon infotainment system.
Under the hood, Tata has reworked and retuned the current 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine to produce more power and torque. The new Aria Facelift, as a result puts out 150PS of max power - 10PS more than the out-going model, while the torque figure has been enhanced to 320Nm. The engine has also been refined to improve fuel economy and acceleration. The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency on the new model is said to be 15.05 kmpl as against 13.7 kmpl of the out-going model. The retuned engine comes paired with a reworked gearbox, which helps cut down on NVH levels.
The 2014 Tata Aria Facelift will be offered in a total of three variants with the 4x4 technology reserved only for the top-end, Pride trim. The top-end trim also gets standard features such as front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, EBD, TCS, ESP, automatic climate control, a 360 Watts JBL-Harman sound system with 10 speakers, 17-inch alloy wheels, Black and Plum dual-tone interior, automatic headlights and wipers, cruise control and a Navteq navigation system.
