Swedish carmaker Volvo Auto India is prepping to launch the new 2014 Volvo S80 Facelift model in the country at an event slated to get underway in New Delhi tomorrow. Volvo had first presented the facelifted S80 at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, along with the updated S60 and the XC60 - both of which, got its commercial debut back in October 2013. Now its the turn of the S80.
The facelifted model brings about a number of styling and interior updates to the S80. At the front, there is a new grille that is smaller and resembles the one on the S60. The headlight assembly has been refreshed and now features LED daytime running lights. The rear of the car gets a slight tweaking to the bumper, while the side profile remains unchanged. The model also gets new alloy wheel design. On the inside, the luxury sedan gets a new 7-inch touchscreen to compliment the updated infotainment system.
The Volvo S80 gets two range of engine options in India. The base model comes powered with a 2.0-litre inline five-cylinder diesel engine producing 165PS of max power at 3,500rpm and 400Nm of peak torque. The top-end model comes powered with a 2.4-litre inline five-cylinder engine that is rated at 218PS and 400Nm. Both engines come mated to a 6-Speed automatic gearbox.
The 2014 Volvo S80 will rival the likes of the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes Benz E-Class, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF in the Indian market. Like all Volvo cars, the S80 too, will be imported into the country via the CBU route.
