Audi India would launch the keenly-awaited 2015 TT coupe today - April 23, 2015 - in the country. Initially, the company would only launch the petrol variant 45TFSI of this high-performance in India. The German luxury automaker sells the TT coupe via CBU route in the country, and with the 2015 model, it would continue to do so. 2015 Audi TT coupe is pitted against the likes of Mercedes-Benz SLK Class and BMW Z4, and it is expected to carry a price in excess of Rs. 65 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
According to Audi, the new TT coupe is around 50 kgs. lighter than the preceding model due to based on Volkswagen group's new MQB platform. The coupe would also get the modern Virtual Cockpit that integrates the MMI screen and the instrument cluster into one unit. The company has designed special jet-turbine like A/C vents to leave space on the centre console. It is being reported that the German automaker is also contemplating the launch of extremely powerful TTS variant and the diesel variant in India, albeit if the demand rises. Just so you know, the performance-based TTS variant churns out a maximum power of 310PS and peak torque of 380Nm. On the other hand, the diesel variants are powered by a 2.0L TDI motor.
Under the hood, the 2015 Audi TT 45TFSI has a 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol powertrain which pumps out a massive power of 230bhp and peak torque of 370Nm. It is linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission which disburses the power evenly to all the four wheels via the trademark Audi Quattro AWD system. 2015 Audi TT touches the 100kmph mark from standstill in a mere 5.3 seconds, while clocking an electronically limited top speed of 253kmph. New Audi TT's production has commenced at its Hungarian plant from August 2014.
