BMW India has quitely launched 2015 1-Series facelift at a sticker price of Rs. 29.90 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Thane) in the country. The new BMW 1-Series would be available in a single diesel variant - 118d Sportline - unlike the outgoing hatchback, which was on offer in both petrol and diesel variants in multiple grades. The updated hatch comes with an array of cosmetic changes both at the outside and inside. Though, there are no major mechanical updates to mention. We earlier reported you in April that BMW India has imported one unit of the 1-Series facelift in the country for R&D purposes.
Talking about the 2015 BMW 1-Series facelift, it measures 4,329mm in length, 1,765mm in width, and 1,440mm in height - a tad fuller and taller than its predecessor. There are prominent styling updates at the front and rear in the new hatchback. As for front, it now flaunts more broader headlamps with daytime running lights as standard feature. The BMW signature kidney grille is larger than the preceding model. At the rear, the 2015 1-Series facelift gets an all-LED tail-lamp cluster and redesigned bumper. Inside the cabin, the hatch features improved infotainment system, while the centre console is finished in piano-black theme. However, the single-zone climate control is not available as standard, but one can have a dual-zone system as an optional feature.
Mechanically, the updated 1-Series hatch is powered by the same 1995cc, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, albeit with more power. The company engineers have retuned the engine to extract a maximum power of 148bhp and peak torque of 320Nm. The engine is linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission, while power is being transmitted to the rear wheels of the sedan. Just so you know, the 2015 BMW 1-Series hatchback had its world premiere at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. BMW is also planning to roll out a new compact sedan based on the 1-Series hatch, which would rival the likes of Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA.
