Hyundai India has finally launched the much anticipated 2015 Hyundai Verna in a price range of Rs. 7.74-12.20 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. There will be a total of 7 variants on offer and we have already driven the sedan during the media drives. The new Verna is largely based on the Russia based Solaris and host an array of cosmetic changes. It has been launched in a total of 10 variants.
On the design front, one can easily spot the difference in terms of the front fascia, which derives its DNA from the new Sonata. The redesigned bumper now integrates new fog lamps and revised grille along with bigger headlamps. The side profile and the rear end is similar to the outgoing model. Inside the cabin, there are few upgrades in the form of new infotainment system and better quality materials. 2015 Hyundai Verna is unchanged and continue using the same set of petrol engines (1.4L & 1.6L) and diesel engines (1.4L & 1.6L CRDi). The transmission options on offer are - 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 4-speed automatic. Though the biggest change is a more responsive steering wheel and tuned up suspension system, which were lacking in the previous generation model.
As for safety of the occupants, it comes with speed and impact sensing auto door lock, 6-airbags and ABS as standard feature across the entire variant line-up. The 2015 Verna has received 5-star safety rating in Euro NCAP tests. The updated Verna will be pitted against the segment leader Honda City and the new premium product from the largest car maker in India, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
