Ford has finally taken the wrap off its next generation 2015 Endeavour aka Everest just minutes back. The 7-seater SUV would be on sale from next year in several countries including India. The 2015 Ford Endeavour production version appears quite identical to the Everest concept which was showcased earlier this year. The SUV also comes with enhanced off-roading capabilities and terrain management system.
As mentioned before, the new Endeavour is pretty similar to the Everest concept, except for the wheels which appear more practical than before. The SUV boasts a coil spring setup at the front and rear. There is Watt’s linkage on the rear axle of the SUV as it has a enormous ground clearance of 225mm. The other dimensions of the SUV such as length, width, height and wheelbase of the SUV aren't disclosed yet by the company. The new Endeavour also has a water-wading capacity of 800mm with approach angle, ramp-over and departure angle being 29-degrees, 21-degrees and 25-degrees, respectively. Ford has designed and developed the Endeavour facelift at its Asia Pacific research and development centre.
The new endeavour would feature Terrain Management System with four modes - Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock. This special feature helps in adjusting the traction control in accordance with the terrain. The vehicle's accelerator and transmission response is also modified accordingly. Inside the cabin, the interiors look more advanced, up-market and premium than the current model. Ford has incorporated its much talked-about SYNC 2 multimedia system with voice command in the SUV with an automatic climate control system and the new 8-inch touchscreen system with color-coded corners. The company states that the SUV has a gigantic boot space of 2,010 litres while both the second and third row are folded.
Under the hood, the SUV would have three different engines - a 3.2-liter 5-cylinder diesel engine, a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel and a 2.0-liter twin-scroll EcoBoost petrol. However, in India, it will be arriving in its diesel avatar only. The SUV would be manufactured at Ford's Chennai plant from Thai-made kits for India when it is launched in the country around the mid of 2015.
