Volkswagen has delivered the first unit of the all-new 2015 Passat saloon to a customer in Wolfsburg, Germany. Mr. Jörg Ruter, along with his family, took the keys to the new Passat, which had a Tungsten Silver Metallic exterior with nine-spoke alloy wheels. Francesco Forte, Head of Sales, Volkswagen presented the keys of the car to Ruter. The new Passat is also expected to make its debut in India by mid 2015.
Jörg Ruter was overwhelmed with joy as he took the keys of his new car and said, "Picking a new car is something special in itself. And, now to be also the first customer to pick up a new Passat at the Autostadt, is unique." It was a comfortline variant and featured a leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum trim and a generous assortment of standard equipment. In addition, the buyer also had the facility to order the winter package and a Composition Media infotainment system. 2015 Volkswagen Passat is based on company's all-new MQB platform. Volkswagen launched the new Passat in a total of three trims - Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.
Under the hood, the 8th generation Passat has a 2.0L 4-cylinder TDI engine with BlueMotion Technology. It churns out a maximum power of 147.5 bhp and peak torque of 340Nm. It is mated to a DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission for better performance and power. The new Passat had its world premiere at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and it was almost 85 kgs lighter than its predecessor. Also, the new Passat has a 79mm longer wheelbase than the preceding model, despite being short in length by 2mm.
