Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), the home-grown automajor, is on a mission to revamp its entire SUV line-up. It had launched the new Scorpio last year, and now next-generation Bolero (U301), an all-new compact SUV (S101), Xylo facelift, updated XUV500 and refreshed Quanto are some of the projects that would come out this year. Out of the aforementioned facelift versions, updated Quanto was spotted by our friends at AutoCar India near Nashik as a test mule with camouflage.
The Mahindra Quanto facelift would get substantial updates both inside and outside. It is expected to get redesigned headlamps, a new grille and tweaked bumper at the front. The side profile, however, would be the same; except for the addition of newly-designed alloy wheels for the top-end trim. Inside the cabin, new Quanto would boast a new beige-themed dashboard and steering wheel and an audio system with Bluetooth and voice command recognition. In addition, the company would fit all-new seats in the Quanto facelift with even better cushioning and lumbar support.
The biggest change in the new Mahindra Quanto would be the use of tweaked suspension, while adding some extra bushes and a rear stability bar. Recently, Mahindra Xylo received similar update and as a subsequent result of this, the driving dynamics of the new SUV improved significantly. The Quanto facelift would continue to be powered by the ongoing 1.5L, 3-cylinder, diesel motor with top power of 98.6 bhp and peak torque of 239Nm. It would be coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Although, there were endless rumours that Quanto facelift would also come with an optional AMT gearbox as the company had even showcased the AMT-gearbox equipped Quanto at the 2014 Auto Expo. And, if our sources are to be believed, then AMT unit will debut with the updated Mahindra Quanto, when it is launched in the second half of 2015.
