Ssangyong Motors UK, after releasing multiple images and a teaser video, has finally revealed the all-new Tivoli crossover SUV. Paul Williams, CEO, Ssangyong UK, unleashed the crossover SUV digitally, which would be unveiled in Korea for public in January 2015. This crossover SUV would be priced around 15,000 GBP (Around Rs. 15 Lakhs) and would be launched in several other international markets by the end of 2015.
It is the most compact and affordable vehicle from the Mahindra owned Ssangyong Motor Company. Being based on the two concepts – XIV Air and XIV Adventure, it would be challenging the likes of Renault Duster, Hyundai ix25, and Ford EcoSport in the markets. Ssangyong hasn't divulged any details regarding its arrival in India; However, it seem pretty bleak that it would be launched in India. Mahindra would launch an array of new products in India in 2015 such as S101 compact SUV, the utilitarian U301, Quanto AMT ‘Autoshift’ and the Electric Verito sedan. There is no air about Tivoli being introduced in the country as of now.
Talking about the powertrains, Tivoli crossover SUV would in-house 1.6L petrol and diesel engines. Both these engines are developed jointly by the parent company Mahindra and Ssangyong. It has been under development for the past three years and was seen in concept form at recent international motor shows with the project name X100. The new car takes its name from Tivoli, the Italian town near Rome with a reputation for style. Noted for its cultural heritage and beautiful location, the gardens at Villa d’Este have inspired many others to use the name, including the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.
