Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown automaker, would launch the 2015 XUV500 Facelift on May 25, 2015 in the country. Mahindra XUV500, being the company's flagship product, was launched in 2011 in India and now the company has felt the need of providing a makeover to the ageing SUV. For those asking, its chief rival Tata Safari Storme's facelift version is also ready for launch next month.
The facelifted XUV500 has been spotted undisguised and the changes are said to be strictly cosmetic. The spotted Mahindra XUV500 facelift was seen wearing a new purple colour with an array of modifications at the front fascia. It had a new grille, redesigned headlamps with S-shaped LED daytime running lights, which are quite identical to ones seen on the new Scorpio. Also, there were L-shaped fog lamps with chrome finishing enclosures which made it look quite refreshed at the front. The facelifted SUV was spotted riding on newly-designed 10-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear end, the Mahindra XUV500 facelift gets chrome-finished registration plate enclosure and a newly designed rear door.
There are no major upgrades or changes reported inside the cabin, except for the addition of some new interior shades. Mechanically, the new XUV500 would be the same altogether. It would retain the same 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder mHawk engine, which generates a maximum power of 140bhp and 330Nm of peak torque. This engine delivers a promising fuel economy of 15.1kmpl. 2015 Mahindra XUV500 facelift would be up against the likes of Tata Safari Storme facelift, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Skoda Yeti.
