Even in the world, where we already have the highly lethal Mercedes Benz S63 AMG Coupe, there is space for even more when it comes to the power department. The German luxury carmaker knows that too well and has therefore, presented the all-new 2015 Mercedes Benz S65 AMG Coupe - a luxury grand tourer with a big V12 heart and one of the most powerful two-door Merc ever!
Under the hood, is the massive 6.0-litre V12 engine that has been hand-built by one talented technician at AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany. The unit is able to put out 635PS of max power and a colossal 1,000 Nm of peak torque. It is the same unit that powers the S65 AMG four-door sedan. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via the AMG’s Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic gearbox, which is able to propel the S65 AMG Coupe from 0 to 100 kmph in mere 4.1 seconds - that is two tenths of a second quicker than the S65 AMG. Top speed remains electronically restricted to 250 kmph. Three driving modes are available for the gearbox: Controlled Efficiency, Sport and Manual. An engine start-stop system is also included and is automatically activated in the Controlled Efficiency mode.
Visually, the chrome detailing on the S65 AMG makes the model stand out from the S63 AMG Coupe. Forged wheel sit at each corner and measure 20-inches across. They wear 255/40 size rubber up front and 285/35 in the rear. Inside, the S65 AMG Coupe gets he designer touch with seats covered in diamond-pattern Nappa leather. Standard technology includes, a heads-up display, an advanced adaptive cruise-control system with Steering Assist, a Burmester 3D surround system and a 360-degree camera.
The 2015 S65 AMG Coupe will be slotted at the top of the two-door range, which starts with the S550 4Matic coupe at the bottom. It will come equipped with all the features, tech and gadgetry that is seen in other AMG models and will be the first one to feature Merc’s fancy suspension with the curve-tilting function. This system uses a stereo camera to scan the road ahead to prepare the suspension, which then makes the vehicle lean into the turn, while adjusting for speed and curve radius.
The Mercedes Benz S65 AMG Coupe is already gone to showroom floors in Germany and is slated to hit the U.S and U.K markets by the end of 2014. Considering, how the company is keen on getting its entire range of AMG tagged performance machines into the country, we expect the S65 AMG Coupe to land on the Indian shores in the near future.
