Ahead of its scheduled web premiere tomorrow, the 2015 Mercedes C CLass has been spied thanks to some leaked brochure images on Mercedes Passion Blog. According to the brochure, the 2015 Mercedes C Class will launch with three engine options – C 220 BlueTec (diesel), C 180 and C 200 and in four variants – Standard, Avantgarde, Exclusive and AMG.
Rumour has it that the 2015 C-Class will shed up to 100kgs thanks to a new body structure made up of aluminum, high-strength steel and composite materials. Increased rigidity and improved safety will be highlights of the new C-Class chassis structure with a high-strength passenger safety compartment, specifically developed deformation zones and an exterior skin made from aluminum claimed to provide excellent crash test results. Mercedes may also incorporate many of the safety technologies that debuted in the latest S-Class.
Powertrains for the fourth generation C-Class is plenty and varied, depending on the variant too. The diesel engine on the C 220 variant is a 2.1 litre four-cylinder motor capable of 170 PS power at 3,000-4,000 RPM and 400 Nm of torque from 1,400-2,800 rpm. The engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The petrol options on the other hand are a 2-litre turbo charged unit capable of 200 plus horses and a V6 too. However, it is to be seen whether the V6 engine and the AMG variant make it to India or not.
Optional extras include Airmatic air suspension, seat comfort package, seat climate control for driver and passenger, 7G-Tronic, Air Balance package, LED headlight, Panoramic sunroof, Head-Up display and Burmester surround sound system. Mercedes Benz has planned the world premiere of the new C CLass during the NAIAS 2014 (2014 Detroit Auto Show) next month. Watch out this space for more information!
