2015 MotoGP provisional teams and riders announced

Snapshot: International Motorcycling Federation has released a provisional list of the teams and riders for the 2015 MotoGP World Championship.

The MotoGP 2014 season is about to get over, with the second last race at the Sepang, Malaysia Circuit just around the corner. In fact, as we are posting this report, the qualifying can very well be ongoing. While we have already got our 2014 champion in the form of Marc Marquez, much is on the line for the second and third positions.

Meanwhile, the International Motorcycling Federation has released a provisional list of the teams and riders for the 2015 MotoGP World Championship. The initial list includes 16 factory entries and nine non-factory entries, taking the toll of confirmed riders to 23 and another two yet to be confirmed. The 2015 season will witness the incoming of the two famous factory teams, Aprilia and Suzuki.

The biggest name of the current MotoGP season, Honda and Yamaha are retaining their factory riders, with two-time MotoGP Champion Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa gearing up again for the Repsol Honda. While the legendary Valentino Rossi alongside Jorge Lorenzo will continue for the Movistar Yamaha.

As for the Ducati, Andrea Dovizioso is staying with the team, only to be joined by Andrea Iannone, next year. Current Ducati rider Cal Crutchlow will move to the CWM LCR Honda team joined by Moto3 graduate Jack Miller to complete the team. He will be riding a RCV1000R, as will Karel Abraham with Cardion AB Racing.

Suzuki has announced the return to the MotoGP racing with Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro as its riders. The other re-entrant, Aprilia, has joined hands with Gresini Racing, only to declare one rider, Alvaro Bautista while the second rider yet to be announced. Tech 3 will field Yamaha’s satellite entry with Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro returning for the 2015 season. Nicky Hayden, the only American on the list will ride M7 Aspar with Eugene Laverty on the Honda RCV1000R.
