Mercedes-Benz India has officially announced that it would launch the 2015 Mercedes-Benz B Class facelift on March 11, 2015 in the country. New Mercedes B-Class made its global debut at the 2015 Paris Motor Show in October. The B Class facelift would come with an array of cosmetic changes at the outside, while getting equipment updates inside the cabin. However, mechanically, it is still the same and would continue to be sold as CBU unit in India.
Talking about the cosmetic changes in length, the new Mercedes-Benz B Class is more sporty than before due to the inclusion of deeper front and rear bumpers, a pair of side skirts, and new rim designs. Being based on the MFA platform, the new hatchback also gets revised headlamps with LED lighting. In addition, the tail-lamp cluster is also fresh. Inside the cabin, B-Class would have a new steering wheel, which is being borrowed from the elder sibling C-Class executive sedan. The latest iteration of hatch would boast ambient lighting with a choice of 12 colors and a larger 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system. The company could present the Style, Urban and AMG line trims of the hatchback in India.
2015 Mercedes-Benz B Class would be launched in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The petrol variant B180 would be powered by a 1.6L motor which is good enough for making 120bhp of power. On the other hand, the diesel variants would in-house the same 2.2L, 4-cylinder engine which would generate a maximum power of 107bhp. Both the engines would be mated to a 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission, while it's still not clear that whether the company would offer the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system with the hatch or not. Although, in several European markets, the B-Class gets the aforesaid 4X4 drivetrain. In global markets, 2015 B Class is being priced at EUR 27,102 (Rs. 20.94 Lakhs). But in India, the company hasn't still confirmed its local production at the Chakan plant and hence, the pricing would be a bit more in the country.
