Mini India has launched the 2015 new 3-door Cooper S at a sticker price of Rs. 34.65 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. Mini had earlier launched the newer versions of Cooper 3-door and 5-door diesel models in November 2014 in India. 2015 New Mini Cooper S bears no cosmetic changes to the Cooper D diesel variants launched earlier. However, it is more powerful, agile and brisk than before.
Underpinning the UKL front-wheel drive platform, new Mini Cooper S is bigger in dimensions than the preceding model. It measures 3821mm, 1727mm, and 1414mm in length, width, and height, respectively. It also has a wheelbase of 2495mm. In all, the length, width, height and wheelbase of the new model have been increased by 98mm, 44mm, 7mm and 28mm, respectively. The boot capacity of the new Cooper S has been enhanced by 51 litres, now making its total boot space 211 litres. However, it can be further extended by 731 litres by folding the rear seats. Mini Cooper S now rides of 16-inch alloys with tyre size of R195/55. The company has offered several customizations for the wheels, roof, decals, and interior with this hatchback. It is being available in 11 exterior shades in the country.
Under the hood, it has a 2.0L, 4-cylinder twin-turbo petrol motor which churns out a maximum power of 192bhp and peak torque of 280Nm. It is linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission, which propels the car to touch the 100kmph mark from standstill in a mere 6.7 seconds, while attaining a top speed of 233kmph. It also returns a promising fuel economy of 18.2kmpl (ARAI Specified).
