Renault India has launched the 2015 Duster facelift with upgraded features and powertrains at an introductory price of Rs. 8.30 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom,Delhi). The company has termed it as 'New Generation Duster' in the official PR, but it is a just a facelift with some added features and improved powertrains. 2015 Renault Duster facelft gets a handful of changes at the outside, while the interior is all new with several up-market features. Powertrains for petrol and diesel guises are same, albeit with improved fuel economy.
Talking about the exterior changes, new Duster now comes with smoked headlamps, body coloured door handles and outside rear view mirrors. The company has focused more towards the interiors of the compact SUV as it has made several upgrades inside the cabin. New Renault Duster boasts a front central arm-rest to provide more comfort to the driver and front passenger. The instrument cluster now comprises of a gear shift indicator and Eco mode feature, while the company has incorporated a new multi information display with service reminders. Also, the 3-spoke steering wheel is new and also has cruise control feature with speed limiter in the 2015 Duster facelift.
There are speed-sensitive doors, whic get locked automatically after a certain speed. A soft touch dashboard and new fabric upholstery further pamper an individual with luxury. Other prominent features in the 2015 Renault Duster are real time fuel efficiency display, distance to dry warning, an 8-way adjustable driver's seat, rapid deceleration warning, Medianav navigation console and steering-mounted audio controls. In addition, Renault India has introduced a new platform in form of ‘CMO10’ with the new Duster, which helps in accentuating the acceleration and supports low end tractability. The refreshed Duster also gets an upgraded electrical and electronics architecture.
Mr. Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault Operations in India said “Like all our products, we have kept Duster contemporary and exciting with relevant product improvements and we are confident that the New Generation Duster will further enhance the ‘Legacy of Duster’ in India. We will launch two new products this year in very exciting segments – Renault Lodgy in the MPV segment and a compact hatch, which will target the heart of the Indian automotive industry." As for safety, the company has offered some exquisite safety features with the new Duster such as ABS with EBD and brake assist, dual front airbags, rear defogger and a rear wiper and washer with timer.
Under the hood, the Duster comes with the same set of diesel motors, albeit with upgraded fuel economy. The 1.5L, 4-cylinder K9K diesel motor churning out a top power of 85bhp and 110bhp now offers a fuel economy of 19.64kmpl and 19.87kmpl (Both ARAI Specified), respectively. The company says that it can be further enchanced to 10 percent by driving on Eco Mode as it balances the power and torque delivery in the vehicle. Both the 85PS and 110PS power engines are linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the petrol variant continues using the same 1.6L K4M engine which develops a maximum power of 103bhp at 5750 rpm and peak torque of 148 Nm at 3750 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and has a fuel efficiency of 13.24kmpl.
