Volkswagen India has finally launched the 2015 Jetta at an introductory of Rs 13.87 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) in the country. The facelifted Jetta gets an array of cosmetic updates at the outside while the interiors get a minor makeover. The car made its world debut at the 2014 New York Auto Show and we have, previously, posted several spy-shots and even the official brochure for the same.
Among the visible exterior changes, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta now gets a slightly bolder front grille. The new headlights now come with bi-Xenon elements, along with LED daytime running lights (DRLs). Also, the front bumper gets minor revisions in the form of larger air-intakes and a new design for the fog lights. Inside the cabin, the 2015 Jetta will get a new piano black trim, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a new touch-screen infotainment system and a revised instrument cluster. The Jetta facelift comes with cruise control as standard feature across its entire line-up. On the safety front, it boasts 6 airbags, including side and curtain airbags as standard. The company has offered the new Jetta sedan in two trims - Trendline and Comfortline - which are common for both petrol and diesel guises. But, the diesel fuel trims gets an additional range-topping Highline grade in diesel guise, with both manual as well as automatic transmission.
The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta gets a couple of power units, largely taken from the previous generation model. The petrol variants will come loaded with a 1.4L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine producing 120bhp of maximum power and 200 Nm of peak torque, while returning an impressive mileage of 14.69kmpl (ARAI Specified). The diesel unit would be the same altogether, as the same 2.0L, 4-cylinder TDI mill would do duties, while producing 138 bhp of top power and 320Nm of highest torque. The diesel variants with manual gearbox would deliver a healthy mileage of 19.3kmpl (ARAI Specified), while the AT variants would yield 16.96kmpl (ARAI Specified). The engine would be combined to a 6-speed manual transmission, while a 6-speed DSG gearbox is also available with diesel guise. The 2015 Jetta will compete against Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla Altis and Chevrolet Cruze.
