Another exciting activity taken up by Jaguar Land Rover’s newly formed Special Vehicle Operations department is the SVR badge - that will be slapped to all the brand’s future performance models. The first such model is the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR - the official images of which, have been released on the world wide web, ahead of its first public debut at the upcoming 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The prototype of the Range Rover Sport SVR was first seen at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed and since, has been snagged by spy photographers a number of times across europe. Also, the British marquee announced last month that its Range Rover Sport SVR has set the fastest lap record at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, booming the fastest production SUV in the world.
With 542PS power on tap from its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine and a host of other upgrades, the RR Sport SVR lapped the 20.8 kilometre-long ‘Green Hell’ circuit in Germany in 8 minutes and 14 seconds. The record run was achieved by Land Rover driver during the SVR’s testing schedule at the ‘Ring. Land Rover claims that the lap was set using a production-spec car that is able to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in mere 4.5 seconds.
Post its official debut 2014 Pebble Beach, the Range Rover Sport SVR is expected to hit the showroom floors by early 2015 in the international markets and will rival the likes of BMW M5 and the Porsche Cayenne SUV.
