Skoda, the Mladá Boleslav based automaker, will unveil the fourth generation Superb saloon at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show (India bound) in March. The styling of the 2015 Superb would be inspired heavily from the Vision C concept. New Skoda Superb is expected to go on sale in the second half of 2015 in several international countries. However, in India, it would arrive only by 2016.
Skoda's flagship model, the 2015 Superb, would be underpinning the same modular MQB architecture as the all-new Volkswagen Passat (B8). The deisgning cues would be taken from the Vision C concept and it would have a striking appearance. Jozef Kaban, Head Designer, Skoda Auto, wuld be responsible for the design of new Superb saloon along with his creative team of designers. The model will be offered just like now in liftback and wagon body styles measuring just about the same but a bit lower as well as wider which will grant additional shoulder room while the trunk capacity is expected to increase as well.
Mechanically, the 2015 Skoda Superb saloon would be powered by 2.0L TDI and 2.0L TSI engines, which also does duties to the Passat. The 2.0L TDI diesel engine would make a maximum power output of 188 bhp, while the 2.0L TSI petrol motor would generate a massive power of 276 bhp. These engines would replace the 3.6L, V6 powertrain, while there will also be an optional all-wheel-drive system on offer. The company, however, would also present an entry-level 1.8L TSI petrol engine which would make a power of 177 bhp. If a section of media reports is to be believed, then the new Superb would be offered as a plug-in hybrid as well with a 1.4 TSI engine in combination with an electric motor to churn out a maximum power of 208 bhp. Quite similar to the Passat GTE plug-in hybrid, it would return an exceptional fuel efficiency of around 50kmpl. It is also touted that, like the Passat GTE, Superb Hybrid would have a 50 kilometers electric range along with a total range of 1000 kilometers.
