Volkswagen India is all set to launch the 2015 Jetta sedan tomorrow on 17th February, 2015. The car made its world debut at the 2014 New York Auto Show and has been caught multiple time testing in India. Apart from the spy shots, the brochure for the upcoming Jetta has also been leaked in the media and according to the brochure, the Jetta will carry a handful of subtle styling changes both inside and outside.
The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta will get a slightly bolder front grille with new headlights that gets bi-Xenon elements, along with LED daytime running lights (DRLs). Also, the front bumper gets minor revisions in the form of larger air-intakes and a new design for the fog lights. At the rear-end, the car gets Audi-like LED tail lamps. Inside the cabin, the 2015 Jetta will get a new piano black trim, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a new touchscreen infotainment system and a revised instrument cluster.
In terms of powertrain, the Volkswagen Jetta will be powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines like the previous generation. The petrol variant will come loaded with a 1.4L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine producing 120bhp and 200 Nm. The diesel units will be the same 2.0L, 4-cylinder TDI mill producing 138 bhp and 320Nm. The engine would be combined to a 6-speed manual transmission, while a 6-speed DSG gearbox is also available with diesel guise.
The Jetta facelift would be available in two variants - Trendline and Comfortline - in both petrol and diesel guise. However, the diesel would have an additional top-end Highline trim with both manual as well as automatic gearboxes. The new car could be priced a little upwards of the current model at around Rs 13-14 lakh and will compete against Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla Altis and Chverolet Cruze.
