Volkswagen India has launched the 2015 Vento facelift at a starting price of Rs. 7.70 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Mumbai) in the country. The new Vento comes with an array of cosmetic upgrades. The company has attempted to make the 2015 Volkswagen Vento much advanced, up-market and premium by giving it chrome finishing at the outside. Mechanically, the engines in the Vento facelift are still the same, but they have been retuned for enhanced fuel efficiency.
As its a mid-cycle facelift, the changes at the outside are not so substantial. The 2015 Volkswagen Vento facelift's front fascia is revised with a new Jetta-esque triple-slat chrome grille, retstyled bumper with chrome strip, new fog lamps with cornering lights, etc. to mention a few. The door handles also have chrome finishing and the alloy design is also the same. The rear bumper, redesigned boot lid and exhaust pipe also have chrome garnishing. In fact, the LED tail-lamp cluster is also tweaked a bit. The company has added two exterior paint shades with the Vento - Titanium beige and Carbon steel.
2015 Volkswagen Vento comes dual front airbags as standard safety feature across the entire variant range. The interior cabin is similar to the ongoing model. However, a few additional features new sporty flat bottomed steering wheel, cruise control, cooled glovebox, a dead pedal, external boot release and auto-folding mirrors. Volkswagen Vento rivals the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, and Ford Fiesta.
Under the hood, the new Vento sedan retains the same 1.2L turbocharged petrol motor and 1.6L petrol engine in the gasoline guise. The former churns out a maximum power of 103bhp, while the latter generates 104bhp of top power. The fuel economies have improved by 7 percent as the 1.2L engine now returns 18.19 kmpl against the older model's 16.93kmpl and the 1.6L motor delivers 16.09 kmpl in place of older model's 15.04kmpl. In the diesel fuel trim, the Vento continues to be powered by the 1.5L diesel engine, which is good enough for 103bhp. As for the mileage, it has improved by 2 percent and has been upped to 20.64 kmpl from 20.34kmpl for the manual gearbox and 21.5 kmpl for the DSG automatic transmission from the current's 21.21kmpl.
