Swedish automaker Volvo has finally released the first official images of the 2015 Volvo XC90 on the Internet, ahead of the model’s public debut at the upcoming 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. The new XC90 is the brand’s first model that will be launched under its new Chinese ownership and will come powered by the new cutting-edge range of engines.
The second generation XC90 has been designed along the company’s new design philosophy with its Scalable Product Architecture and was first previewed with Concept XC Coupe at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. The prominent chrome trimmed grille and the T-shaped LED daytime running lights are a first from Volvo and is slated to become a trademark design aspect on all future models. The car’s strong shoulder line moulds into the car’s long sculpted bonnet, giving the car an aggressive stance.
The fresh and bold design extends inside the cabin as well, with the highlight being the new tablet-like touchscreen in the centre that has replaced a multitude of buttons and dials with a clean and clutter-free dashboard. Notable interior features include, a new four-zone climate system with clean zone air purification system, which offers individual settings for the first the second row.
The large premium SUV has been tagged with the Swedish automaker’s technological know-how and is set to become one of the safest, most hi-tech and most economical SUVs in the market. Expected to carry a price tag of 45,795 GBP or Rs 45.90 lakh approximately for the base D5 AWD Momentum variant, the new XC90 is slated to go on sale sometime in March 2015 in the international market and will compete with the likes of BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg and the Mercedes Benz M-Class.
