It seems like a season for spy images, globally as well as in India. While many manufacturers are caught testing new or updated versions of their cars for the coming years, Audi is not left behind either. After the recent spy shots of 2016 Audi Q7, the manufacturer is now caught testing their sedan, 2016 A4. The car is heavily camouflaged and only minor details can be taken out of the images.
For all of those, who were hoping to get some differentiated design from the Audi for its A4, you will be disappointed. The camouflaged vehicle, though heavily clad, easily reveal no major change in the design. Although the lines are sharper now and a visible increase in the dimensions is evident, to distance itself from the A3 Sedan, the new entry level sedan from Audi. This will result is more cabin space, resulting in more legroom for the rear passengers.
The technical details are not out yet, but the sedan is rumored to get the MLB Evo platform which will help the car to reduce about 100kg, giving it a better power to weight ratio. The engines will remain unchanged and a possibility of new 1.4 TFSI engine is being worked on. The new engine will be equipped with a cylinder deactivation system which will reduce fuel consumption by 0.5 litre/100km, by shutting off two of the cylinders in 36 milliseconds during low and medium loads.
No launch dates are confirmed yet, but the expectations are for second half of 2015.
