2016 Audi A5 is all set to make its world premiere on June 2, 2016. Prior to the official unveiling, the company is playing the tease game with the people. The German luxury automaker has released a couple of teaser images, which have revealed the exterior silhouette and side profile of the coupe. Just so you know, the new-generation Audi A5 Sportback was spied as test mule without any camouflage in Mumbai, India.
Going by the teaser image, the new A5 coupe borrows the headlight design from the 2016 Audi R8 V10. The LED daytime running lights (DRLs) are different from that of recently unveiled A4 sedan, while flaunting an angular shape. They are flanked by a hexagonal grille, while the body boasts of sleeker lines. It is said to be more aerodynamic than the preceding model with a drag coefficient value of 0.29 Cd. Underpinning Audi's new MLB Evo architecture similar to the new A4, it might be around 100 kgs lighter, while coming with improved fuel efficiency than its predecessor. As for features, the coupe is expected to get Audi virtual cockpit with fully digital instrument cluster and MMI navigation plus infotainment system with MMI touch as standard.
Under the hood, Audi A5 coupe would have 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines - sourced from the new A4 sedan. These engines would be paired with 6-speed manual gearbox and 8-speed automatic transmission. It is being learnt that range-topping variants would be offered with Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system. There is a word that Audi S5 - the high-performance derivative of A5 - could be powered by the 3.0L 6-cylinder turbocharged TFSI petrol engine with maximum power of 350bhp, while linked to an 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission. The A5 Coupe is expected to go on sale by 2016 end in the European markets, while it could be introduced in India by mid 2017.
