2016 Auto Expo: All-New BMW X1 Launched at Rs. 29.90 Lakhs

BMW India has launched the 2016 X1 crossover at an introductory price of Rs. 29.90 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) at the 2016 Auto Expo. The all-new X1 would be manufactured locally at the company's Chennai facility. Initially, the 2016 BMW X1 would only be available in diesel guise with a total of 4 variants. The petrol variants will be launched later in 2016. The German luxury automaker has said that deliveries of the all-new X1 would start from April 2016.

The all-new BMW X1 combines the best of city driving with off-road performance and is the perfect vehicle for individuals with an active lifestyle.’’

The all-new BMW X1 is available in three exclusive design schemes – Expedition; xLine and M Sport. The latest iteration of BMW's entry-level crossover is on offer in Alpine White (non-metallic) and in the following metallic paintworks: Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Mineral White, Mineral Grey, Sparkling Brown, Sparkling Storm Brilliant Effect, Platinum Silver, Atlantic Grey, Mediterranean Blue and Chestnut Bronze. The exclusive metallic paintwork for the M Sport range includes Estoril Blue. The range of fine upholstery combinations in all-new BMW X1 include Sensatec Black and Black, Sensatec Canberra Beige and Black. In M Sport, the range of fine upholstery combinations in Dakota leather include Canberra Beige, Mocha with Black/Mocha, Oyster with Grey highlight and Black, Black with Black, Black with Blue Highlight.

Under the hood, the all-new BMW X1 has a 2.0L, 4-cylinder TwinPower Turbo diesel engine. This engine belts out a massive power of 190bhp and top torque of 400Nm between 1,750–2,500. The engine is linked to a new 8-speed steptronic automatic transmission, which transmits the power to all the four wheels via BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The crossover does a 0-100kmph sprint in less than 8 seconds, while having a top speed of 220kmph. Standard safety features include six air bags, ABS with brake assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and Hill Descent Control (HDC).
