2016 BMW 3-Series launches at Rs 35.90 lakh

BMW has launched the new 3-Series sedan in four exclusive design schemes such as Prestige, Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport. The new BMW 3-Series is locally produced at BMW Plant Chennai and can be ordered at BMW dealerships across India from today onwards. This sports sedan is enhanced with the world’s most successful premium sedan packs in an iconic design, sporty dynamics and outstanding efficiency.

On the occasion of the launch, Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India said, “40 years ago, the BMW 3 Series established the modern sports sedan segment and is the world’s most widely sold premium vehicle. The all India ex-showroom prices for diesel variants are as follows:

BMW 320d Prestige                                         : INR 35, 90,000

BMW 320d Sport Line (Navigation)                     : INR 41, 50,000

BMW 320d Luxury Line (Navigation)                   : INR 41, 50,000

BMW 320d M Sport                                          : INR 44, 50,000

Speaking about the exterior, the new BMW 3-Series has an eye-catching design giving its impression with a striking presence on the road. It features a distinctive sculpted long bonnet and a set-back passenger compartment creates extremely dynamic proportions, revised LED headlights and LED fog lights underline the sporting appearance to an excellent effect. The LED indicators highlight the hallmark BMW twin headlight arrangement creating a stylistic link between the headlight unit and the BMW kidney grille. At the rear-end, it gets a full LED units arranged in distinctive BMW ‘L’ shape and are heavily curved. The broader side air intakes along with newly designed front and rear bumper with line elements express the broad stand on the road.

The interior reflects the elegance of the new BMW 3-Series model range. Seats in the new BMW 3-Series are electrically adjustable on both the driver and front seat passenger sides. The outstanding ergonomics have been improved further with carefully arranged chrome highlights, high-gloss surfaces and ambient lighting all of which builds an even classier look  The BMW Navigation system Professional (integrated Global Positioning System-GPS), with an 8.8 inch high-resolution display is available in Sports Line, Luxury Line and M Sport.

Under the hood, the new BMW 3-Series is powered by a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo diesel engine and the combination of common rail direct injection and a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry ensures that it delivers an excellent output of 190 HP and High torque of 400 Nm is available at just 1,750 – 2,500 rpm. It is connected to a new eight-speed automatic transmission performs smooth, almost imperceptible gear shifts. The new 3-Series accelerates to 100 kmph in 7.2 seconds with the ability to achieve a top speed of 230 kmph. The new BMW 3-Series Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport feature Shift Paddles for facilitating more convenient manual gear shifts.

Though, the brand is also planning of the petrol variant, that will be launched later in 2016.
