A Brazilian publication by the name of CarPlace has come up with the renderings of the upcoming 2016 Honda Civic sedan. This is the tenth generation of the popular Japanese car that will available in 3 body types - the sedan, hatchback and coupe. Honda first revealed the Civic concept at the New York Auto Show that took place last month.
While hatchback is one of the most revered Honda models ever, Civic sedan had been quite popular in certain countries including India. And that's the reason Honda has time and again played over various versions and variants of hatchback and not sedan. This is probably the first time the sedan has been rendered by someone.
Honda India pulled the plug of the Civic after the eighth generation model. Though the car gained quite-a-lot popularity in our country. As for the U.S markets, the Civic sedan is expected to get a 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine with direct injection. Honda could provide a 6-speed manual transmission and a more relevant CVT gearbox.
For the European markets, the Civic will definitely get a petrol and a diesel engine. The diesel unit will most likely be the 1.6-litre four-cylinder i-DTEC unit that will be mated to the 9-speed transmission sourced from the CR-V facelift. We are not sure whether Honda will bring back the Civic sedan to the country, but the American launch will happen in late 2015.
