It was only a couple of days ago when Hyundai published a teaser photo with its all-new Elantra and now the compact sedan is making a comeback in several new official renders ahead of an imminent full reveal. This time we get to see the Avante version set to be sold in South Korea, but rest assure the Elantra-badged model will look virtually the same both inside and out.
Don’t get too excited after seeing these teasers because the attached illustrations are nothing more than sketches which generally speaking usually show highly desirable designs, but the final product is rarely as attractive. However, the render with the car’s side profile is more accurate and provides a good glimpse of what to expect from the new Elantra which should reach Indian dealerships sometime next year.
The design seems to be more refined compared to the outgoing model and chances are Hyundai wants to take its new compact sedan a little bit more upmarket. Hopefully this decision to elaborate a more upscale product won’t influence the car’s price tag as one of the main reasons why the Elantra is so popular is because it is affordable.
Technical specifications are not available at this point, but we expect the new model to lose some weight and become more efficient. It could be a little bit bigger and have a more spacious interior cabin, especially for those sitting on the rear seats. We heard 53% of the body will be constructed from high-strength steels and Hyundai has optimized the body in the wind tunnel to achieve an impressive drag coefficient of 0.27.
The interior cabin is set to be more luxurious as rumors say the new Elantra will be available with optional heated rear seats, start button and a lot of safety kit including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
Check back in the coming days for the full scoop as Hyundai has announced the full reveal is just around the corner.
