Audi has been testing the second generation of its flagship SUV Q7 quite frequently in the Europe. The SUV has been spied several times albeit with high camouflage as a test mule. But this time, the folks at WorldCarFans have been successful in capturing the next generation Q7 completely undisguised. The company is expected to held a world premiere of the next gen Q7 at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show in January.
Looking at the spy-shots that were taken in the middle of night, it is pin-point that the SUV has lost its bulkiness and the company has provided it a sharper and sleeker design. Audi has been providing a relatively sleeker design to all its new models or facelift versions as we have seen in the last couple of years. The test mule was also flaunting matrix LED headlights, tiny fog lamps, LED tail-lamp cluster etc. to name a few. Also, the company's traditional hexagonal front grille seems to be a tad fuller in size with the compact third side window and narrower rear spoiler which is mounted on the roof. Inside the cabin, it would boast a new four-spoke steering wheel, larger touchpad, touch-screen infotainment system with digital dials.
Mechanically, the 2016 Audi Q7 would be powered by company's 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder engines. In addition, there would be a special hybrid variant which would have a 3.0L, 6-cylinder TDI diesel motor in accordance with a an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. The top-of-the-trim SQ7 variant is expected to have a 3.0L V6 twin-turbo TDI mill which would be comprising of an electric turbocharger and a lithium-ion battery pack. It would generate a massive power output of 385 bhp and peak torque of 750Nm. The range-topping SQ7 variant would be based on the RS5 TDI concept. The SUV is expected to go on sale internationally in and around the second half of 2015 with India launch slated around the 2016 Delhi Motor Show.
