Jaguar Land Rover India would launch the 2016 Jaguar XF sedan by the end of this month in the country, claims a Zigwheels report. Around a couple of months back, we reported you that the Indian arm of the British luxury marquee had imported two units of the XF sedan in CKD form in India. Out of the two units imported, one unit carried petrol engine, while the other had diesel powertrain. However, it is still not known that whether the company would launch the sedan as a CBU or locally assemble it at the Pune facility.
The new-generation Jaguar XF had its world premiere on March 24, 2015 in London, while it made its first public appearance at the 2015 New York Auto Show on April 1. The executive sedan was showcased to the Indian folkfare at the 2016 Auto Expo in February in Greater Noida. Talking about the 2016 Jaguar XF, it is nearly 200 kgs lighter than the model currently sold in India. The cabin is also bigger than the ongoing model due to increase in wheelbase by 51mm, which now stands at 2960mm. Underpinning an all-new aluminum-intensive iQ platform, it flaunts new LED headlamps with redesigned LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), revised front bumper, and huge front grille. At the rear end, it has a restyled LED tail-lamp cluster, which partially resembles to the XE sedan.
The interior cabin of 2016 XF is designed with cues taken from the XE sedan and the current-gen XF sedan. It boasts of several premium features such as new 10.2-inch touchscreen InControl Touch Pro premium infotainment system, 828 Watt 17 speaker system by Meridian, Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), All-Surface Progress Control, Jaguar Configurable Dynamics and 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster. If media reports are to be believed, 2016 Jaguar XF would be launched in both petrol and diesel guises. The petrol variants are likely to be powered by the same 238bhp 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, which does duties to the recently launched Jaguar XE Portfolio. The diesel variants would derive their power from a 2.0L (1999cc) 4-cylinder engine which develops 178bhp of top power and 430Nm of highest torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission with steering mounted paddle shifters would be available as standard with both the engines. For those asking, the 3.0L V6 supercharged engine - borrowed from the F-type coupe - available with the flagship variant of the sedan in several global markets, is unlikely to be launched in India.
