The versatility of KTM Dukes enables the Austrian manufacturer to make more than one model on the same platform. The Super Duke is no different, either. With a 1290 Super Duke R and 1290 Super Adventure already on sale (in certain markets), a new tourer based on the former is likely on its way soon. Published by Visordown, here’s a recently spied picture of the said bike, which could be called the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT, and is expected to be unveiled later this year.
Visually, it shares components with the 1290 Super Duke R, while a larger windscreen (not too dissimilar from the one used on the Super Adventure) a bigger headlamp, and handlebars are in place, too. The exhaust now gets a new heat shield, but the muffler shape is the same as that found on the 1290 Super Duke R. It looks beefier up front, and as the report suggests, has a subframe added to the chassis, probably for additional lugging abilities.
Powering the vehicle will be the same 2-cylinder, 4-stroke 1,301 cc engine as found on the other two 1290s, but final figures are yet to be announced. Maximum power is expected in the vicinity of 160 – 177 hp (max. power produced by the engine when used in the Super Adventure and Super Duke R respectively).
