India’s most challenging and adrenaline fuelled Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm Motorsport rally started from Hanumangarh, while the second day started from Bikaner, which is located in the heart of Thar Desert. Starting from Badrasar, the leg 2 of this motorsport rally was one of the longest routes covering a total distance of around 160 kms. In the Extreme category, Abhishek Mishra and his navigator PV Srinivas Murthi lead the category by clocking 04:34:32 Hrs followed by Suresh Rana and his navigator Ashwin Naik in their Grand Vitara by clocking 04:50:18 Hrs, while driving Maruti Gypsy, Amanpreet Ahluwalia and Virender Kashyap positioned third clocking in 05:05:00 Hrs.
On day 3 of the Maruti Suzuki Dessert Storm rally, the rallyist had to storm through a gruelling distance of approximately 350 Kms. Where the leg 3 had 3 competitive stages of 41 Kms, 64.74 kms and 50.71 Kms length between Noorsar, Bandarwala and Naal. While the leg 4 of the Desert Storm 2016 had one competitive stage of 100 Kms, between Kuchri and Bandha. It is quite astonishing that Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4 was topped by Abhishek Mishra from Jaipur along with his navigator PV Srinivas Murthi, again the second position by Manali man Suresh Rana and his navigator Ashwin Naik, while Amanpreet Ahluwalia and Virender Kashyap stick to the third position.
The leg 5 of the rally had three competitive stages covering over 217 Kms, between Turkon Ki Basti, Majid ki Basti and Mangaliwas. Though, Day 5 was really disappointing for Abhishek Mishra and his navigator PV Srinivas Murthi, as he was eliminated from the game due to some technical issue in their vehicle. But now, the first position was taken by Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik clocking a time of 12:52:03 Hrs, the second position was taken by Amanpreet Ahluwalia and his navigator Virender Kashyap with a time of 14:02:11 Hrs, while in the third position the latest entry was made by Niju Padia and Nirav Mehta clocking 14:05:41 Hrs.
The 2016 Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally ended in the Blue City of Jodhpur with Team Maruti Suresh Rana and his navigator Ashwin Naik garnering the first position followed by Amanpreet Ahluwalia and Virendra Kashyap. At the third position stood Niju Padia and his navigator Nirav Mehta.
