Skoda India has started teasing the 2016 new Superb sedan ahead of its launch in the country. The Czech automaker is expected to launch the latest iteration of its flagship sedan in March 2016. Just so you know, 2016 Skoda Superb won't make its India debut at the Auto Expo as the company is not participating in the biennial event, starting from tomorrow in Greater Noida.
Reportedly, for the first time, Skoda would launch the range-topping L&K edition of the new saloon in India. As for exterior styling, the new Superb flaunts company's latest design philosophy, which can also be noticed in the styling of new Octavia. As for features, the sedan would boast of heated seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive dampers with 3 driving modes, power-adjustable front seat with memory and lumbar support, triple-zone climate control, 8-inch Smartlink infotainment system, and a CANTON audio system as standard. Underpinning Volkswagen's MQB architecture, the Superb shares 50 percent of its components with the all-new Passat.
The 2016 Superb sedan has grown up substantially as it is around 28mm longer and 47mm wider than its predecessor. The sedan has shed around 75 kgs as compared to the current model, while the wheelbase is 80mm longer against the ongoing model. Under the hood, it would carry the same set of petrol and diesel engines as the current-generation model. However, the engines could be retuned to obtain better fuel economy. The diesel variants are expected to be powered by a new 2.0L TDI engine which would deliver 187bhp of top power and 400 Nm of peak torque. The petrol variants would get a 1.8L TSI engine which would belt out 177bhp and 250Nm. Both these engines would be paired with a DSG automatic transmission, which transmits the power to front wheels of the sedan.
