Toyota Kirloskar India recently announced that they will not be launching any new vehicles in 2015 and will work towards improving safety in the current range of vehicles. While we thought that this will be a rather sluggish year for us when it comes to Toyota, the Japanese giant is in no mood to let us sit idle.
A Thailand based publication named Flywheels is at the forefront of revealing the plans of Toyota for the year 2016. They first released the images of possible next-generation Toyota Innova which seemed pretty radical in design and now they have come up with a couple of images for the next-generation Toyota Fortuner SUV.
And going by the images, the Fortuner is no less in terms of design change Toyota has put in it. The front fascia is completely different and more sporty with sharp lines and angular headlamps. The wheel arches are more muscular and the door panels are free of any surface crease. All-in-all, the complete design of Toyota is a generation apart.
While the design, both outside and inside is going to be out of the ordinary for Toyota, the mechanicals of the SUV will be equally worked on. The SUV will get an all-new ladder-frame platform and the engines are also expected to be revised. The SUV can also get a major change in the suspension system.
The SUV could be revealed at the 2016 Auto Expo in India and will be priced upwards of Rs 20 Lakhs. The more plusher and premium feel of the Fortuner will help it compete with Ford Endeavour (Everest), Hyundai Santa Fe and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
