The smallest Volkswagen, the up! was unveiled at the 2011 International Motor Show Germany and is becoming more colourful and sharper still. Volkswagen will present the new version of the up! to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show 2016 which kick off March 1. The new up! will get a newly designed body panels, new wheels, new individualisation options, new equipment, a completely redesigned interior, a new infotainment system and an outstanding new engine that offers a significant boost in performance and torque.
Outside, the new Volkswagen up! features new headlamps with LED daytime running lights as standard, new bumpers, new exterior mirror housings with integrated indicator lights, a prominent rear diffuser, newly designed tail lights, “Light and Sight” package, and new colours. Inside, it gets new styling for the dashboard panel as well as new seat designs, multi-function steering wheel, and Pure Air Climatronic, a 3.1-inch monochrome display and a top-ranging model will get a five-inch colour setup that comes with smartphone integration and can show footage from the rearview camera. Both of the systems feature a twin tuner, AUX IN connection and SD card slot.
Under the hood, The new up! draws its power from a new 1.0-litre TSI engine that is capable of delivering 90 PS and a maximum torque of 160 Nm, available from 1,500 rpm. The three-cylinder engine is the first turbo for the up! and the most powerful motor available in the model to date. The new Volkswagen up! ca bolt from 0-100 kmph in 10 seconds and with a top speed of 185 kmph. This up! even strives to match the driving performance of the first Golf GTI.
