The World Car Awards has announced the finalists for the title of 2016 World Car of the Year. The nomination of vehicles is made in four categories, which are World Car of the Year, World Luxury Car, World Performance Car, World Green Car and World Car Design of the Year. This year's finalists were selected by a jury of 73 international automotive journalists, where these Jurors are appointed for a 1 year term only.
This year's finalists for the World Car of the Year 2016 includes Audi A4, BMW X1, Hyundai Tucson, Jaguar XE, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Mazda CX-3, Mazda MX-5, Mercedes GLC, Skoda Superb, Toyota Prius. The organization also unveiled five finalists competing for the title of World Luxury Car of the Year and the contenders include the Audi Q7, BMW 7 Series, Jaguar XF, Mercedes GLE Coupe, and the Volvo XC90.
The five contenders that will compete for the title of the World Performance Car of the Year includes the Audi R8, Chevrolet Camaro, Honda Civic Type R, Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe, and Range Rover Sport SVR. And not only this, the World Car Awards also have a title of World Green Car of the Year, the finalists for this title includes the BMW 330e, Chevrolet Volt, Toyota Prius, Toyota Mirai, and Volkswagen Passat GTE.
And finally, the contenders for the World Car Design of the Year includes the Cadillac CT6, Mazda CX-3, Mazda MX-5, Jaguar XE, and Land Rover Discovery Sport. The winners will be announced at the New York Auto Show.
