Chevrolet has revealed the 2017 Cruze hatchback ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show. Just so you know, it won't be launched in India, instead the new-generation Cruze sedan would make its way to the Indian shores next year. Being developed with all the technologies and dynamic driving attributes of the all-new 2016 Cruze sedan, the new hatch adds a functional and sporty choice for customers.
“With 9 percent market growth in small hatchbacks last year, it’s the perfect time to bring the Cruze Hatch to America,” said Alan Batey, president, General Motors North America and Global Chevrolet. “As Cruze continues to set the tone for Chevrolet globally, it articulates the brand promise of offering cars with the latest technologies, more features and greater efficiency, performance and safety with fresh, distinctive styling.” Underpinning an all-new architecture, the Cruze Hatch has the same, class-leading 2,700 mm wheelbase as sedan models. However, Chevrolet Cruze hatch flaunts wraparound taillamps and an integrated spoiler at the top of the liftgate to distinguish itself from the sedan.
2017 Chevrolet Cruze hatch is around 91 kgs lighter than the previous-generation model due largely to a body structure that is 46 kgs lighter and an engine that’s 20 kgs lighter. The hatch comes with a boot capacity of 524-litres, which can be further extended to 1189 litres by folding the rear seats. For those asking, the 2017 Cruze Hatch will be offered in LT and Premier trims, and with the RS package. It comes with segment-exclusive standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility via the MyLink radio systems and available 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot. The hatch is expected to go on sale from September 2016 in the US.
