Chevrolet introduced the second generation Cruze at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. While in 2015, General Motors introduced the North American-spec second-gen Chevrolet Cruze that was way different from the former version. And now the brand is making the China-spec model just identical to to the North American-spec Cruze. Recently, SAIC-GM introduced the facelift version of the Chevrolet Cruze, which is basically the North American-spec 2016 Chevrolet Cruze in terms of appearance.
The company is rebranding its second-gen Cruze in China, called as ‘Chevrolet Cruze XL’. The ‘XL’ denotes the increased size of the model. Dimensionally, it has been increased from 4,567mm to 4,666mm in length, while the wheelbase has been stretched from 2,662mm to 2,700mm.
Under the hood, the Chevrolet Cruze XL will will be offered with a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engines. The existing model that comes packed with a 1.4-litre engine pumps out 147.45HP and 235Nm of torque, while the naturally aspirated unit develops 112.60HP and 146Nm of torque. Transmission options vary as per the engine model and includes a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic with Dynamic Start/Stop Shift and also a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The XL version returns a mileage of 17.54 kmpl.
