While Ford India has recently launched the mild facelift Ecosport in India, it seems like the Model Year 2017 of the compact crossover is already under testing phase, as seen in the images below. The interiors of the 2017 Ford Ecopsort has been spied on the test mule by a publication named AutosSegredos, who went on to render the exteriors of the Ecosport too.
The 2017 spec models will make its way to India as well as South America by the year end or early 2017, and will be the first major update for the Ecopsort ever since its launch back in 2013. The Euro spec model, on the other hand, will receive this update first as compared to the domestic market. The last update was only in the form of DRLs and power tweak from 90 bhp to 100 bhp.
In terms of the exteriors, going by the rendering and camouflaged exterior panels, one can deduce that the new Ecosport will feature a headlight sourced the all-new Endeavour. While the fog lamps are moved up a bit, they are also expected to receive some design tweaks. The rims are now more sporty while the exterior spare wheel is expected to be retained as opposite to the Euro-spec model.
Coming to the interiors, the images spied are mostly of the cabin, revealing a refreshed instrument cluster with a larger digital display and smaller pod size. The tachometer now reads a maximum limit of 8000 rpm instead of current 6000 rpm, and also makes space for the temperature gauge. Similarly, the fuel gauge now resides inside the speedometer pod.
While the current model only houses the steering mounted controls on the left side of the steering, the new design reveals the conventional 3 spoke steering wheel with controls on both the sides. The other blue-illuminated infotainment system will now receive a full color display. Rest, the cabin design and the black trim material remains the same.
In terms of power, the Ecosport facelift will continue with the same 1.0-litre Ecoboost and the 1.5 litre Ti- VCT petrol engine apart from the 1.5 litre TDCi diesel powertrain. Expect an added finesse to the output and transmission alike. The same 5-speed manual transmission and the AMT gearbox is expected to continue doing the transmission duties.
