2017 Honda Civic unveiled for US market

Snapshot: We know hot hatchbacks are one of the best on the planet. Honda Civic Hatchback has been one of the most fun to drive ever. This 174bhp unveil for the North American market does increase curiosity for Indian customers as more hot hatchbacks are being sold in the country.

Customers rejoice as the all-new 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback is unwrapped for the North American market. Honda believes the Indian market is not yet mature for powerful hot hatches, but we think with the arrival of the Fiat Abarth and Volkswagen Polo GTI, it is high time we get the fantastic Civic Hatchback in the country. This new Civic gets a 1.5 litre direct-injected turbocharged engine that pumps out 174bhp of maximum power and 220Nm of peak torque. Sport variants will be pushing out 180bhp of power with similar torque figures. Rumour has it that the Type-R version will have upwards of 300bhp!

Honda has ditched the older 2.0litre engines for a turbocharged 1.5litre engine owing to emission norms and fuel efficiency enhancement. Customers will be given a choice of a sport oriented CVT automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual to harness its full potential. The interior is packed with high quality plastics and typical Honda build quality. Lightweight body construction and liquid filled suspension bushings means it has been tuned for agile and quick cornering. Safety aids include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS) and Lane Departure Warning to name a few. Sport touring grade will come with Honda Sensing, Apple Carplay and LED headlamps.
