The fifth-generation Honda CR-V has been revealed by Honda finally. The previous generation CR-V’s focussed mainly on the budget and comprised on looks to a great extent. But with the upcoming CR-V, this will not be the case.
The fifth generation CR-V will come with turbo power, which is a first in Honda’s crossover as well as several more technology. It will also have a more premium interior and a larger cabin which will allow more rear seat legroom and also a large cargo area.
The design of the new CR-V is similar to Honda’s newly launched BR-V. The headlights are sleek and a wing-shaped LED DRL surrounds them, it also has muscular fenders. It comes with a long hood, dual exhausts and shorter rear overhang. In the rear of the car, the license plate holder has been set lower than the previous models and the pillar mounted tail lights have been redesigned. Honda has also redesigned the alloy wheels. This brand new look gives the car a contemporary look.
Coming to the interiors, the crossover comes with a redesigned dash and cabin with plenty of space for everybody. Honda has abandoned its dual screen infotainment system, and replaced it with a single screen 7-inch display. It is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with a satellite-linked navigation system. This time the CR-V has also forgone its foot operated unit and placed an electronic parking brake. Other features include a remote engine starter, dual-zone climate control, 8-way power adjustment and 4-way power lumbar support for driver’s seat, 4-way power adjustment for front passenger seat, and the USB charging ports for the rear.
This time, the Honda CR-V will come with a 1.5-litre DOHC and direct-injected four-pot powerplant which will churn out 192PS of power. A 2.4-litre petrol motor is the other engine option available. Both the engines will be mated to CVT transmission. The car will also be able to send power to its front wheels or to all four of them.
Other features includes collision mitigation braking with front collision warning, cruise control, rear cross traffic monitor and several others. Though it is unknown if the Indian version would have all of the above mentioned features or not.
