The Hyundai Xcent, launched in 2014, was a good answer to the other subcompact sedans like the Maruti Suzuki Swift D’Zire and the Honda Amaze. After having notched up good numbers for itself, the Xcent facelift will be launching today, and it is set to be better than before.
The new Hyundai Xcent facelift will see a distinctly different front section. Although the headlamps cluster remains the same as before, the upper thin lining of grille has been done away with and the car now gets a large hexagonal grille with horizontal slats. On the inside, the new Hyundai Xcent will get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will be integrated with Google’s Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
On the mechanical front, the biggest change on the 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift is the reworked diesel engine. The car will now get a 1.2-litre three cylinder diesel engine from the new Hyundai Grand i10. The increase in the engine displacement capacity will help the car to hit a top power of around 75 bhp and a peak torque of 190 Nm. The 1.2-litre petrol engine remains to be same with 83 bhp of maximum power of 114 Nm of peak torque.
The Hyundai Xcent competes with the Maruti Suzuki Swift D’zire, Volkswagen Ameo, Honda Amaze, the newly launched Tata Tigor, etc. In the beginning of the year, the Xcent stood at number in the list of most popular subcompact sedans after the D’zire and Amaze. However, by the end of the first quarter, the new Tigor managed to replace the Xcent at the third spot.
