Earlier, we showed up some spy shots of the new generation Maruti Swift which making test rounds. The testing of the new Swift is on its advance stages and will make its global debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March. Based on the Baleno platform, the next generation Maruti Suzuki Swift will be lighter and safer than the existing model.
Reports suggests that the new model will get a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine with company’s SHVS technology that is expected to crank out 90 bhp and will be available in two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The company will also get a new 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo petrol unit for the model that will easily pelt out 101 bhp. It is the same engine that Maruti will introduce in the Baleno RS, which is 110 bhp but will be bit powered down for the new Swift. Transmission duties will be carried by a 6-speed automatic.
The current 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel could be replaced by a new 1.5-litre unit that will be offered in both manual and automatic transmissions. Reportedly, Maruti Suzuki could also introduce Swift Sport – a performance derivative that is expected to be powered by a 1.4-litre BoosterJet turbo petrol, but on later stages.
Recently, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire was spied doing some test rounds.
