2017 Maruti Swift DZire has been spied as test mule, albeit wearing camouflage, by Rushlane reader Ishan. The new-generation Maruti DZire is expected to launch in the second half of 2017 in the Indian market. It would enter production at the Suzuki's new production facility in Gujrat, which would be operational by April 2017. Several reports have claimed that the new sedan would be launching before the next-gen Swift hatch. Just so you know, 2017 Maruti Swift is learnt to be having its world premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Both the Swift and Swift DZire would be based on the Baleno's light-weight aluminium architecture, which would result in a weight loss of nearly 40-80 kgs. It would subsequently result in a higher mileage, perhaps best-in-segment. The company would also be offering the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology to get the benefit of Indian government’s FAME incentive, which is around Rs. 13,000. In addition, it would further increase the fuel efficiency by 2-3kmpl. As for features, the new DZire sedan is expected to get automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, a touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system with reverse camera and navigation and steering mounted controls. The cabin would have a dual-tone black and beige theme, while the centre console would be a bit different from the new Swift hatch.
Maruti would offer Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and dual front airbags as standard features in the new-generation Swift DZire. Mechanically, it would be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel trims, identical to the current model. The petrol variants would retain the same 1.2L 4-cylinder K-Series engine, while the same cannot be said for the diesel variants, as Maruti might replace the Fiat-sourced 1.3L 4-cylinder DDiS engine with its newly-developed 1.5L diesel engine. Several reports have claimed that the in-house developed 1.5L motor is made for the Swift family and debut with the new DZire sedan. The transmission options might include 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox.
